Charles Anthony East, MB, FRCS: Consultant in Rhinoplasty and Facial Plastic Surgery

Mr. Charles East is the best rhinoplasty surgeon in London and the top nose surgeon in the UK. He is a distinguished consultant specialising in aesthetic and functional plastic surgery of the nose, commonly known as rhinoplasty. Recognised as the foremost nose surgeon by Tatler magazine consistently for the previous fourteen years, Mr. East is appointed to assume the presidency of the Rhinoplasty Society of Europe in 2024. He is a member of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS), has served as the UK Vice President of the European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery, and he is a regularly invited to lecturer at both national and international symposia. His teaching is appreciated by plastic surgeons as he believes knowledge gains meaning when shared.

After completing his medical schooling at the Charing Cross Hospital Medical School, University of London, in 1980, Mr. East was conferred the Hallett Prize by the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He underwent his subsequent training in ENT at Oxford University College Hospital and the Middlesex Hospital. This academic path led him to the University of Washington in Seattle, where, for a tenure of twelve months, he served as a senior clinical and research Fellow in Facial Plastic Surgery.

Mr. East has been the lead clinician and an honorary Consultant for the Rhinoplasty service within the Craniofacial Surgery Unit at the University College Hospital Foundation Trust. His tenure as an Associate Professor at University College London included his appointment as course director for the institution’s Plastic Surgery of the Nose and Techniques in Facial Plastic Surgery courses, reputed for drawing an international audience.

His continued research efforts focus on the modelling of nasal airways, and his prolific contributions to his field include extensive publications, specifically on preservation rhinoplasty. Mr. East co-authored the highly successful textbook “Ear, Nose and Throat & Head and Neck Surgery” and has written chapters in the British national textbook “Scott-Brown’s Otolaryngology & Head and Neck Surgery,” along with various authoritative articles on rhinoplasty and nasal surgery. He maintains clinical contacts globally to stay abreast with the latest techniques and treatments emerging worldwide.
