What Our Patients Say
Frequently Asked Questions
What Is Primary Rhinoplasty?
Primary Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure aimed at reshaping the nose to improve its appearance and often, its function. It involves modifying the bone and cartilage structure of the nose to achieve a new shape, size, or angle that complements an individual’s unique facial features.
How Do I Know if I Am a Good Candidate for Primary Rhinoplasty?
Ideal candidates for Primary Rhinoplasty are individuals who are dissatisfied with the appearance of their nose, have breathing issues due to the structure of their nose, or both. It is important that candidates are in good general health, have realistic expectations, and are typically at least in their mid-teens to ensure facial growth is complete.
What Does the Recovery Process Involve After a Primary Rhinoplasty?
Recovery after a Primary Rhinoplasty typically involves a period of swelling and bruising around the nose and eyes that can last a few weeks. Most patients can return to work within about two weeks. Strenuous activities should be avoided for at least 4-6 weeks. Detailed post-operative care instructions will be provided by your surgeon to facilitate smooth and quick healing.
Are There Risks Associated with Primary Rhinoplasty?
As with any surgical procedure, Primary Rhinoplasty carries some risks which may include bleeding, infection, breathing difficulties, or dissatisfaction with the aesthetic outcome. Choosing a qualified and experienced facial plastic surgeon can significantly minimise these risks.
How Do I Prepare for the Rhinoplasty Procedure?
Preparation for a rhinoplasty procedure includes a thorough consultation with your surgeon to discuss goals, expectations, and any potential risks. Medical evaluations, including blood tests or imaging, might be required. Smokers will be advised to stop smoking well in advance of the surgery, and certain medications that increase bleeding risk, such as aspirin or anti-inflammatory drugs, should be avoided.
